Each will be small, but will grow under VHO or MH lights.

Each is free to a member of the club providing that.....

They are at the next meeting to receive a colony

I got these mushrooms back in January 2004 as 3 GIANT
mushrooms. Shortly after, they began to split. All three
of them have split. One into about 6 different frags. I have
them towards the top of my tank directly under the output
flow from my HOB skimmer. They seem to like some flow
but not a whole lot. They are at the top of my tank so
when I turn on the MH (250W) they get a full dose. They
don't seem to mind the MH but do well under just the
VHO as well. These mushroom get LARGE.

The recipients promise that once they are twice the size
they are now, they will donate a frag the approximate
size of the original donor frag.

If you wish to be a sponsor....reply to this list. The first 3
(maybe 4) will get a frag. The next people on the list
will receive frags from the sponsors when the frag
has doubled.

Here is a pic of one of the frags:

Put me down also. I am going to be upgrading my lights very soon. Do I need to bring any special type of container?

PCs would be fine for mushrooms. They do not require intense lighting. Some seem to like it but they should do fine under pcs. Ive even had some shrivel up under pcs because they were too bright.

I have those under VHO and MH. They are easily 10 inches across, but llook smaller since they are so folded. They look great over a bunch of small rock fragments.

Glad to see the mushrooms are doing good for you Tom.
As for the care on these, i had them in my tank for 14 years.

They like a soft to medium (downward) flow. They like lots of light but i have had them do good under nothing more than a floresent daylight bulb. If you manage to kill one of these you should take up knitting or something lol. Almost impossible to kill, but they only seem to really grow well and split when placed high in the tank and under a gental downward flow. If you have an over the back filter and place them directly under the water flow, they will get as big as a soccer ball. They are also pretty much harmless to anything they touch, and clown fish will choose them over an anemone. My favorite coral that i have ever kept, and the first coral i purchased, both 14 years ago when i started reefing and when i got here to florida :)

Jimmy....you sure managed to get that picture posting down!

The frag looks good. In my tank they grew fast and are now approx 8-10 inches, but look smaller since they spread over the rocks. Spot feed it a little food now and again.

Paul.

They look even better in your tank. I am going to have try some now.
