Doser 2.1 question

My doser is on its way to me and I would like to have everything ready to go for when it arrives.

Essentially, I want to use John Guest (or equivalent fittings) to connect my dosing lines to the tubing on the dosing pump in an effort to eliminate possible air bubbles and make maintenance easier.

Could someone please confirm what the tube diameters (internal and external) are on the pump head and maybe recommend a product to do this?

Thanks

Good Morning,

I would not use JG fittings at all on this - JG fittings are a pressure fitting, and tend to introduce air on vaccum, or low pressure.

The doser comes with 8x connectors that will allow you to join the doser tubing to either Vinyl, silicon or rigid tubing.

Nothing else should be required to connect your tubing :)

Thanks. I think there are some low-pressure options/solutions? The Litermeter3 uses a John guest.

If not John Guest, what about a screw-on compression coupler like on the IKS vario blue/vertex libra/dos?

I'll try the standard fittings first....

But if they are the same as what came with my Dupla dosing pump (look identical), air easily got into the lines. I had to wrap teflon tape around each fitting. Do not want to use zip ties, as then it will be difficult for maintenance.

What is a solution to stop air entering the lines if I encounter such an issue?

Thanks a lot.

No zip ties needed.
Use those fittings and dosing/air line tubing and you'll be all set.

I have yet to experience air entering my lines. My Doser 2 has been online since December of 2014 with Vertex Libra Vessels.

Haven't seen many complaints regarding this.

any one else have problems with these:

and red seas nopx? its like they melt the plastic over time?

also what is the diffrence between doser 2.0 and 2.1 ?

When will you all have the 4 pump dosers available. Been waiting a few weeks for my thanksgiving day order to be shipped.

Hello Settings; we really appreciate your patience and support!

After a long couple of weeks of delays and issues with our logistics partner, our shipment finally arrived! We took delivery of our shipment yesterday afternoon; and managed to get several orders shipped out before cutoff and pickup, many more were prepared late yesterday and today. We anticipate to have most if not all Doser orders shipped out by no later than Tuesday.
If you'd like to PM me your order number, I'll have a look and see if your went out already.

Hi Star,
I pulled up the MSDS for N0(3)PO(4)-X, looks like it contains methanol and acids. On prolonged contact time, being filled with a methanol/acid base liquid, I wonder if that starts to deteriorate the plastics in the connector.

Difference between Doser 2 & 2.1 - new motors and heads primarily. same chassis and electronics. :)

it does, its like the plastic starts to melt, or get soft.. back to VSV then...

thans for the answer on what the diffrence was between the doser 2 and 2.1. What is better with the new heads?

I received my doser today. A very fine piece of engineering!

I have had to use zip ties on the line connections, as I was getting air in the lines as I primed the lines before calibration. Using brand new silicone air tubing.

One thing that is a bit annoying - straight out of the box, the pump is very squeaky... even when running on lowest speed setting (0). Will need to buy the right hex key to be able to open it up and check for dust etc, as I can only imagine something has wriggled its way inside the housing during shipment... Hopefully.

Also while I was priming the pump, one of the pumps would only let me manually dose for about 10 seconds before the pump jammed and made a huge amount of noise until I pressed the manual button. Not sure why. Will be curious to see what is going on when I remove the pump head.

On the plus side, the instructions are wonderfully clear and it is very easy to program this pump. Will be dosing 100 0.2ml doses of both Ca an KH during the day on my nano reef, which should mean tons of stability! :bounce1:

Thank you for all your help, Marco.

I have cleaned the dosing tubes and the housing and repositioned the hoses (they must have shifted slightly during shipping), and now the pump is near inaudible!

Extremely happy with this product.

Thanks again,
Hugo
