Doser Problems

Grrrr. My Jabao 4 channel ATO is deteriorating after a year of use. Calcium feed on channel 2 stopped working so I switched to unused channel 4. Nada. Pump works on auto but don’t work on programmed times. (I'd been using Channel 3 to dose 40 ml of V a day but I now see that it ain't working either).

Now bolo dosing.

Channel 1 (alk) still seems to be working. Who knows how long this will last? Anyone have any suggestions about fixing the defective pumps?

Or should I just bite the bullet and buy 2 channel Eshopps Dosing Master Pump? (I can obvioulsy do without V dosing since I have done without so long.)

Or should I bust the bank with German doser? (Having recently busted the bank with highly recommended German skimmer that showed initial promise but has settled into state of mediocrity at best, I'm not inclined to go there.)

Thanks,

Mike

I really like my BRS Drew's Dosers. So much that I have 2 identical pairs, one set on the DT, the other on the frag system. Pair them with $15 digital lamp timers and they are good to go. Easily adjustable by using the timers, and seems to be rock solid construction.

I have an icecap. It's great.

A single doser is ~80 bucks and you can daisy chain them.

ive been using the BRS dosers (not the drews) for 4 years and they have worked flawless so far, I change the tubeing once a year wether it needs it or not just to be on the safe side and it's cheap. those with a digital timer like billdogg and your good to go.

Mine have been running for about 2 1/2 years. I suppose I probably should change the tubing...........

I've got to run vinegar through the tubes on my jebao doser to clean occasionally. I'd try clearing the tube.

Mines been running a few years now, I will be switching to either BRS on my Apex or the DOS when it finally gives out.

For the money I'm satisfied with the jebao, but again my next doser will be controlled by Apex.

Thanks everyone,

I'm proud to report that my reign as King of the Idiots continues. I had interval/days set at 1 on the Jabao doser. Read through incoherent Jabao manual and realized that Jabao manuals are all but useless. Searched Reef Central and found that interval/days should be set at 0 to dose every day. I think this should do it, but I'll be testing alk/calc every day to make sure.

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Yep I agree it might as well have come without a manual, and the interval seems counterintuitive.

I definitely recommend keeping an eye on the calcium pump/tube, mine clogged and needed cleared out. It led to a depressed calcium level and increased alkalinity. I was a slacker and let some of my corals suffer.

Good luck with the doser.

Thanks!

I've had same issue wih Alk and calc tubes getting clogged/kinked, but I'm now committed to testing flow and calc/alk levels every day so I hope this will deal with it.

And people ask me how I will keep busy now that I'm retired.
