I would like to know if adding corals over to the new tank would be bad before i start adding supplements to dose or would i been fine for a while and be able to add corals over(a few at a time) would work?
Supplementation is only necessary if you need it. for low load tanks just keeping with regular water changes is plenty. watch the alkalinity and calcium & make sure the levels are good. once the alkalinity starts to drop add supplements.
the rule of thumb is don't add anything you cant test for - and test before you add
I started dosing after I couldnt keep up with the water changes. I have a nano though so I started at a whopping 2.2mls a day. I would think it'd be fine moving some over as long as you test every few days to make sure the alk and ca dont drop.
Dosing in a new tank is no different than dosing in an old tank. No matter the age of the tank, you have to dose (or not) to meet the rate of uptake, which you can determine by measurement.
