Dosing iodine

Hey guys so I'm thinking of adding iodine to my tank. My Scarlet legged hermit recently molted and isn't getting his red color back. I was thinking this may be because he is having trouble hardening his exo-skeleton. Could this be due to low iodine levels or something else? My calcium and and kh are normal so it's not that. I would love your input on the matter. also, if I should be dosing iodine, what brand and testing kit would you recommend ? Thanks for your help in advance.

possible.. (unlikely IMO)..

As with any dosing.. buy test kit.. use it to see if its low.. if low levels then dose..
Don't dose what you don't test for.. (very few exceptions to that rule)
