My corals are a little pale, my nitrates have always read 0 on this tank, whether that is true or not, who knows. I decided to dose a little nitrate until I got a reading on my test kit. My sps coloration has deepened and I am happy with where the corals are at now, however, I have a sudden explosion of cyano all over my sandbed (crushed coral).
I like my sps coloration now, but can't stand the cyano - I just can't seem to win. For those that have dosed nitrate, is this a common side effect? Any proposals for how I move forward with trying to balance having more nutrients in the tank while keeping the cyano at bay - I don't mind a little, but its like a red mat of carpet dominating any sand that is exposed to light...:debi:
