Hey guys! So I'm kinda new to all this dosing thing don't really know how much to add. I've always had saltwater tanks with hang on filters and fish only. I've finally am stable enough to afford all the quality equipment and tank. I have the (2) AI Vega, MP40, Reef Octopus Skimmer, Apex Controller, Trigger System Sump. I am currently looking for a doser and have my eye on the Vertex Libra my tank which is being built is a 100 GAL Reef Savvy tank so I'm super excited can't wait for it to come in. Well back to the point. I am getting a doser to dose Alk, Cal, Mag I am just not sure on how much to dose throughout the day. Someone please help me!

You won't know how much you will need to dose until you have a demand/need to dose. Read the article linked below

You should also look into BRS or Drews dosers, and use the Apex to control them.

+1, good article

I use drews dosers from BRS controlled with my apex. Been very happy with them. Will be a while before your tank is ready for coral, take your time and find the right product.

There is a bit of trial and error involved. The calculators will get you in the ballpark, but you really need to test daily and make minor adjustments before you figure out what your tank is consuming. Even then, you still need to monitor, because as your corals grow and you add more, demand will go up.

I am also getting to the point of wanting to dose instead of just doing frequent water changes.

Is a calcium/ co2 reactor the same regarding testing and adjusting, where it needs to be dialed in to the exact needs of the tank as things grow/ change? Or does the tank just absorb the needed cal/ alk as it runs?
