dosing pump - clarification from WIKI

Hello,

I have been checking out the wiki page lately. This bit jumped out at me so I want to verify its correct:

"1000ml is the maximum ->1000ml / 60ml/min = 16.6minutes. A pump should not run more than about 15 minutes in one cycle. After running 15 minutes the pump should have a pause of at least 15 minutes, this is better for the lifetime (otherwise overheating possible).

Maximum you can put in per day: 24 x 1000ml. Or use 2 pumps: 24 x 2000ml. "

If you can do 1000ml per ~15 minutes and need to wait 15 minutes, doesn't that mean you can dose 1000ml twice an hour??? So wouldn't the figures above be double???? Or am I missing something?

not that I'm coming close to hitting the limits or anything :) just checking

If I was going to dose that much I would just use a different pump

I add top off water 8 times through the nite I use a
Maxi-Jet 1200 to pump it up from a bucket under the tank

good point. I'm not necessarily dosing that much but its a good idea if it came down to it. would require a switchable socket though.

Also my RODI container is ABOVE the sump, so I need to be careful about using regular pumps on it. So far it hasn't been an issue with the dosing pump.

I tried putting in a siphon break on the outlet side of the dosing pump that went higher than the RODI water level.... didnt work so well. It was sucking tons of air into the line. Not sure if it was changing the flow rate or not but it bothered me so I got rid of it for now.
