Dosing

What amounts are you all dosing? I just finally got a dosing pump (thank you cyber Monday) and want to double check that I've got it calibrated properly. I'm dosing with Kent's line of products: Part A (calcium), Part B (alk), Mg, and Trace Elements. I have a 60 g system moderately stocked about 80% Lps/ softies and 20% Sps.
Alkalinity is the thing I'm most concerned with. The weird thing is that I haven't dosed alk in 6-8 weeks but my alk is still at 8.5 with Red Sea test and 9 with salifert. And everything is growing and colorful!

Thanks in advance!!

Dosing is something that really varies depending on the size of the tank and the corals you have and the type of salt you use and the frequency of water changes among other things. What works for one person may be way too much or way too little for your tank. You really just need to test alkalinity consistently over a few days and see how quickly it drops.

There are calculators to help you figure out how much to dose based on your measurements. It's possible that if you're doing frequent water changes and are using a high alkalinity salt that you may not have to dose alkalinity at this point.

I have 22g and I dose about 33-35mL of alk and ca a day. It all depends on your tanks demands? Test your parameters for a few days to a week and you'll notice a trend, calculate and dose, test some more after you start dosing until everything stabilizes. It's a process, but we all do it to find the right amount.
As mentioned above, it's different for everyone, there's no standard amount that correlates to tank size.
