Dottyback vs firefish

I have a red firefish in my 15 tall and am wondering if I could add a royal dotty back? I was wondering if there would be aggression between the two fish because of the similar body type. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ryan

Yes there would be in that size of a tank. It's not a 100% chance tho seince the dire fish has already Made its territory in the tank But if it were me u wouldn't and I would get a clown or some tyPe of watchman goby just to be safe

Okay, thanks for the help. The 15 already has a small ocellaris clownfish and a micro sized watchman goby. It's my gf's tank, and she loves the color of the royal dottyback, so I may just end up putting it in my 40 breeder so she can still enjoy its colors and look without it interfering with her current fish stock.

Maybe, but it's still too big for a 15 that already has two fish in it.

I'm surpirsed no one pointed out that, in all likelihood, the dottyback would kill the firefish.

Regardless, no more fish for that tank with the possible exception of a trimma or neon/sharknose goby.

I have a dotty and fire fish in my 36g DT, both seem great together. i also introduced them to the tank at the same time. i got lucky i guess :fun4:

Thank you everyone for your responses. My gf is a little hard headed but she won't be able to argue against all these posts confirming what I tried to tell her. I will get her the dottyback, but it will go in my 40 breeder with my mandarin and corris wrasse. I've wanted to get a couple more fish anyway, so the dottyback will be a nice addition to my nearly fishless reef tank. Lol

Good stuff. Sorry I always thought a dotty back or a gramma would take about the same amoutn of space to maintain.

Anyways, good luck planning ahead, as popping in a dottyback as one of the earlier fishes "may" restrict your choices should you choose to add more to your 40 in the future.
