Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Bulbs

I have 10,000k and I want some more blue, so am thinking a 14,000k or around bulb. What all do you recommend, or have had good luck with?

I don't do SPSs, its mostly Zoas, and I am getting into clams. I have a 48" 2x150W HQI MH + 2x96W PC + 3 LED Coralife Aqualight Pro Fixture

I would try the 14K Phoenix DE bulbs. Nice blue-ish color with enough intensity to keep your clams happy.

Get them at Illuming for the cheapest price anywhere...$50 shipped!

I'd try to see a Phoenix before you buy. I LOVE mine but it is very blue, closer to a 20K. In fact I switch my actinics out for 50/50's to brighten it. This of course will vary a lot by your system but it's something to consider. The colors on the Phoenix are spectacular.

I also tried an Ushio 14K and found it to be much closer to a 10K.

ok, well I am looking at some prices and Megachrome Coral HQI
Double-Ended Metal Halide Bulb seem to be way up there in price compaired to Phoenix and Ushio.

Why is that?

I have total opinion on the Phoenix 14k, I absolutely love mines. I also have 2 T5 true actinics with it. Maybe I like the bluer look...

Not really sure. The Megachrome is German (I believe), but so is the Ushio and it's much cheaper. The Phoenix is Japanese made.

The megachrome is also a lot yellower than the Phoenix- like a 10000K on an IceCap ballast. Too yellow for me.
