then i'd connect them, even if the difference can't be seen in a few hours there is a difference, and eventually it will catch up to you

what if i put the return on one the sumps into the other and take off that ones overflow and have then return it back into the tank...or get a 210 acrylic with built in over flow

if the tanks are the same height the overflow might not work, but i don't see why a built in overflow would help anything.

they are not the same hight...than there is no crappy HOB over flow... itl be one tube eith a Y in it going to each sump and same for the return... built in overflow is better all the way around... im just not a big fan of acrylic...and i dont want to get my tank drilled...

youv never seen people run 2 sumps? its a even flow and even return...same as one just splits into 2 sumps and returns from 2 into 1. there linked together that way.

I run two overflow boxes into two sumps from a common display tank. I would do it again, if I were to redesign.
BUT....
The two sumps are connected together. There's a Herbie system between them that allows me to control the water level in each sump. I can also isolate the flow into/out of one of the sumps in order to use it as a water change container.

Yes Iv'e seen people who have two sumps......................but they all were connected, like everyone has said connect the two why does it always take people 50 gallons of water on the floor before they truly understand?

its taken me about 400 gallons but not to understand sumps haha. been there done it all.
as of now i have one unplugged, just using one.
it sucks cuz the $300 i spent on the other is now sitting there and cant be taken out. it umm looks good?

the only way that woyuld work is if i put one of the retuen pump and run that line into the other sump

Hey weluvfish54, Quick question? How many people need to tell you that 2 sump CAN'T work.... Unless there connected. You can tune it and get it to work but it will never be stable. You will forever run in to problems. It all has to do with Gravity.

I have 2 sumps and 2 overflows on my 125 and it requires a lot of fiddling with to keep things happy. If you can arrange to connect the 2 i would.

hey rack, look around, people are all giving diff options and hey look at that the guy under you did it!
and maybe you missed the part where i said im using one currently? its ok we all get a lil oblivious sometimes =D but thanks OSPREY ill consider connecting them..but like i said to everyone i have misc stuff between the two..i thought about moving the chiller but i think im going to stay with one sump, or get a double overflow and have that drain to the diff sumps. we'll see!

Well it does change it a little. But even if he get the same pumps the flow will not be 100% the same and over time it will get worse. So the level in the sump will not be the same......
