Is this usual? This polyp has been growing a 2nd set of tenticles within the first. Oh, hello, I'm new here. I have a 20nano cube with shrooms, zoos and ricordias. Thanks

That looks like a rock anemone. Can you get a pic of when its closed up?

yes, it is a palythoa. There are several in the same clump. I have had it for a few months now and only within the last 9-10 days did it start growing the second skirt.

Huh, kinda strange looking. Never seen a paly with skirts growing like that.

I have seen a zoanthid grow a skirt from the mouth out. I originally noticed that there was something different with a single polyp, it almost looked like some pieces flaking off around the mouth. With time it developed into a skirt which slowly went from the center near the mouth, out towards the rest of the skirt. Really weird at first but very cool to watch develop. (sorry no camera back then)

You might notice that there was a disc next to and now a hairy (lost zoox under a friends halide-I took it and it is recovering, at least as far as feeding but no zooxanth recovery). I moved the paly tp a more lighted spot. same paly though.

Yeah, now that I see the pic of it closed up, its a paly. Never seen one like that before.
