Dow Flake

ryan it was the same price year round at agway. i bought one in the winter and one in the summer. that principle with the snow would only work with small stores any way, chain stores dont change prices when snow hits. but any ways pretty ****ty...any one know where to get the new stuff?? agway doesnt have dow any more. i want to do some tests...thanks

Probably the reason they still had it after all this time is because it was a bit higher than agway. We should be gratefull that it was a higher price, otherwise it would be gone the same way agway's "good' stuff is gone. I understand why everyone thinks he is raising the price but he has gone out of his way to find it and to drive all the way to homer to get it. I am sure that if we called the hardware store in homer they would say it is 22.99 for it. I just want to ay thank you SD for finding this and going to get it too.

You know I tried to do people a favor and pick up some of this stuff for them. Dont take it the wrong way but If ANYONE thinks that I am trying to make a buck off of this I can keep the stuff myself. I am only asking what I paid and when everyone runs out and is looking for it dont look to me. I will have like 10 bags ....

SD, where are you located?? I have guests in town this weekend so I'm not sure I'll be able to pick it up (this weekend). Jerry, when did you plan to head up??

Just to help put peoples minds at ease:

Message from Dow to clear up any issues:

The process change that increased bromide levels in Dow calcium chloride products was implemented in December 2006. The first letter in the Dow lot number represents the year of manufacture. The letter "V" represents product manufactured in 2007, therefore any product with a lot number starting with "V" is product containing the higher levels of bromide impurity. Any lot number starting with a letter that precedes "V" in the alphabet, (such as "T" or "U"), would be product with the lower level of bromide impurity.

I hope this answers your question.

Jerry and Piazzon I Have your bags here

hey guys, FYI Endicott Agway has 50lb bags of Peladow (90-97%) for $18. I don't know if it's good or not bromide wise, but if someone wants to do the investigation... it was distributed by www.milazzoindustries.com and has the numbers 993 and 27125-L4 on the bags. Also have Ms Wages @ 3.99

milazzoin undustries doesnt know when they get there dow flake in to be able to tell you when the bags contence was made. tryed calling them but they could only tell me when the bag was packaged, not when it was produced at DOW.

tried Dow, and they pointed me back to the distributor.. so the world will never know:( are bromine and bromide different chemically?? there are plenty of bromine test kits out there

i do believe the test for them is different. you can check it out on randy sticky thread in the chem forum.
