Downgraded from my 120g to 34g Solana

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!

I think you are right ephesians. I am enjoying this smaller setup. I think it is a new challenge. This setup actually cost me more for the tank stand and light than what I sold my 120g tank, stand and light for, crazy I know. But it will cost me less in the long run for electricity, addititives, salt, livestock(no more expensive tangs) and equipment.

plus in a smaller tank you have to be more selective about what you want to put in the tank so you have to think a lot more about what you like and which direction you would like to go (looks awesome as is though)

You are absolutely right. I have to plan out my livestock. But I like the challenge. I just got a Blue Spotted Jawfish and I left the top open and he went carpet...well hardwood surfing a few days ago :(. I like the open top so I will not try one again. I am looking into gobies right now.

Nice tank Scott...I can't find any of my old pics of my tank with the 150w 14K Phoenix bulbs on my tank for you...damn you stocked that sucker up fast...go with either the 14k Phoenix or the 20k Radium...Tunze ATO is nice...those two bottles the tank comes with are just a joke...

Thanks guys for the nice comments.

I can't wait to get the ATO. I ended up getting a 20k helios from Grimreefer. It has a sweet color to it. Nothing worse than coming home to microbubbles. How do you get the water in the display a little bit lower? Is it possible? I am afraid if I get a vortech it is going to go over the edge. How do you like that sapphire skimmer?

The only way to get the water to sit lower, would be to modify the overflow. I worked on a few of these and I always wanted to cut out the overflow all the way around that corner. The only other thing I had problems with is the pump would clog up(causing the display level to drop). I took the circle block off the pump and didn't have that problem again. I think a mp10 would be perfect.

My display water lowered when I replaced the return pump with a Mag 5...so I'm assuming a higher volume return pump will lower it...I have short pulse mode set on my MP20 to max and the waves doesn't even touch the top of the glass...tested it out just to see the wave action...you shouldn't have to worry about the MP10 spilling water over unless your water level is already high to begin with...

The laws of physics would prove otherwise. Either you have a mag2 or 3 which are the same size as a mag5. Or you had to reduce the output from the mag5 which would cut the flow rate. Not sure what it is, but if you didn't mod the overflow, then adding 50+ gallons per hour should raise the water level. Whatever it is your stock pump had more flow.
