downhill Clarki?

Hey Matt, and all,

My clarki hasn't had a mate in about a year. It's been hosting a small bta for a long time. It stopped eating with the other fish about 2 months ago. Now it's stopped hosting and acting weird (uncharistic) swimming in eddies, hanging with long nosed hawk, and still refusing to eat. (I haven't tried live food but she's not even interested in cyclopeze while the rest of the tank is in a frenzy)

My suspicion is I've made her uncomfortable with me because I rearranged some rocks (not a major thing, but it was in her territory and I had to chase her with my hand to keep her from bitting my hand). It's that, or lack of a mate, or ???? She's probably 8ish yrs old so I'd hate to loose her.

Any and all suggestions welcomed. Catching her to QT is probably out of the question unless she holds out 2-3 more months.

Sounds like she is just old and sick Don. I had an ocelaris do something very similar after about 9 years. I doubt rearranging the rock had anything to do with it.
FWIW, Chris

Hate to hear that, Don. I've got a maroon I've had for ten years and a Cinnamon we've had for almost seven. It won't be the same when they go... Hope all works out okay.

I'm sorry to read this Don. Somehow I missed this thread earlier.
I agree though, sometimes they just get old and fade away (she could actually be very old I guess).

I've never had a clownfish that I know for-sure died of old-age, but I lost a couple of 8-year-old damsels over the past several months that showed similar symptoms, and I'm fairly confident that they were in good-health otherwise. They stopped eating, became listless, and died within a couple of weeks. Sad, even though they were "just" damsels...

I do hope she comes back to health though. It's not a good sign if she doesn't go crazy for cyclop-eeze, but you could try offering her some frozen adult brine or small pieces of table shrimp to see if it sparks any interest.

Matt
