Downsizing... a few questions

I've had a 29g for 5 years. Running DSB & skimmerless whole time. Due to work and other stuff I'm selling everything off but considering getting a 5g and keeping my RBTA & Maroon Gold Stripe Clown.

SO...

1) Any serious issues with putting them in a 5G? Clown is 3" and RBTA is about 6" across... they have been a "couple" for 3 years.

2) How long can they go between feedings? I travel every few months and no longer have people to watch the house. So it could be 10-12 days before I get home. Is that too long between feedings? I was feed every 4 days for the first 2 years but the last year about every 5-7 days.

I'm planning on keeping a DSB in the 5g if I do this.

thx for the input!

Dont do it in 5 days you could loose enouhgh water due to evaporation that you will come home and they will both be dead. A marron in a 5 gallon.......... How would you like to be confined to a closet after having the whole house to rome? Again just my .02.

Eval is not a problem, I have an ATO.

Don't, by nature, clown fish only roam a foot or two from their host? Mine does not go far in the tank... though yes, 5g is much smaller then 29g - he still only went about 12" away at any given time.

Those two animals are simply too large for a 5 gal. One poo from either of them can alter your parameters too much. Stability would be madeningly difficult of not impossible.

I think it will end in death.

Also, maroon clowns are larger, more aggressive of the clowns. So, while there's many fish that would fit in a 5 gallon, a maroon clown is definitely not on the list. It simply is not a nano fish, regardless of how far it travels from its host. At 3", it is also not full grown. So, it will continue to get larger and will further outgrow its tank. A baby doesn't travel beyond its crib, but you would never suggest keeping it in a crib it's entire life into adulthood.
