I don't get it. Aren't the Yumas coming from Indonesia? I thought corals can be shipped from Indonesia to Australia.

Most of the corals we buy here are collected from local collectors and sold to local buyers like myself, these sales tend to begin as auctions starting in the low double digits and escalating to hundreds close to a thousand and in rare case over a thousand, some auctions get quite verbally aggressive and become hidden auctions which often only adds fuel to the fire... -_-

Any chance I can get involved in these auctions? I have been trying to expand my collection but I'm buggered if I can find any for sale, I had to pay $300 for an orange Yuma and I picked up a brown and white Yuma for $75:bounce1: I'm after some of those exotic coloured ones if you have any for sale or know where I might be able to pick some up.

In South Africa a Florida will set you back around 40-50$ US. They not cheap. I have purchased a rock of orange Yama with around 15 on it for 30$ so not sure what is going on with pricing. Must be a shipping issue. Florida rics being me favorite coral.

$40-50 is damn cheap in comparison to the $400-$500 it would cost me each....

Yumas can be expensive in the states, but not as expensive as you're describing.

It sounds to me that Australia could really benefit from aquaculturing florida rics. You're saying that they are available, just really expensive. Typically florida rics reproduce pretty well, albeit a little slow, but definitely culturable by hobbyists. It might take a small investment, but I would buy a couple of expensive florida rics, and just start culturing them, fragging them, and either sell them or trade.

R.florida is illegal in Australia....

Some people do have them but they themselves are paranoid about posting pics of them online through other people then complaining and telling authorities.

R.floridas actually sell for more downunder due to their even rarer nature...1 of the common R.florida colors and patterns i have seen (Orange Rim Dark Blue Center) at about 1-2inch diameter will sell for $450+ downunder.

$200 would be a good price like a steal but the reality of it is that it could go for between $200-$600....

The Australian ones look so much more colorful though. They are gorgeous. Never see colors like that around here. I'd pay those prices for Rics that amazing....except for them being so tricky. My success rate with Rics is about 50/50. Some thrive others melt, breaking my heart.
Strange even the duller color Rics are still so expensive in Aussie Land though.
That stinks.
