Hi Guys,

i was looking online and i came across the product that claims to reduce your cycle time in less than a week, the product is from Dr tim, it is bacteria in a bottle, wanted to see if anyone has tried this product?

Im about to use it to help speed the cycle on my 250g. I have read almost every review from every site I could find on the internet. In short, yes it will help cycle in about a week. Is it instant? no.. Would I personally cycle fish with it? no. It comes with ammonia... use it as recommended and your tank "should" be cycled in a week (every tank is diff).
Get rdy for a bunch of 1998 cant teach an old dog new tricks comments on this thread. There is nothing that is a instant cycle, however this is 2012 and we have bacteria at our grasps that help our tanks cycle much much quicker.

I've used it, and it works really well for shortening cycle. As posts above say, i wouldn't use this and put fish in right after, even if people have done it before, it's probably not safest way to go about it. The way i used it was i ghost fed a tank with some live rock for about a week. (i built up a pretty high ammonia) Then i dumped dr. tim's in. I continued to ghost feed for a week, and by that point my ammonia was at 0, and i was ready to go. At the rate that my cycle was going prior to adding dr. Tim's i have no doubt that it would've taken 1month+ for the complete cycle.

O by the way, i still think the best way to cycle a tank is to let it go naturally, but these bacteria solutions are a great way to help the cycle along if you don't want to wait for the complete natural cycle.

yeah reefjp80 i didnt read that, i saw his video on http://youtu.be/kPxExG-FbvI when he interviewed the Dr tim, the video seems pretty convincing specially after he dropped 2 clowns into a brand new tank. ill prob give it a shot, i just hope the have it in my lfs, ill keep u guys posted.

To me it wasn't about being in a hurry! My past tank I've always had the problem of pest associated with live rock or live sand ! This time around I wanted to make sure I didn't have any pest issues. So went with dry rock and dry sand. DrTims was a good way of getting a good strain of nitrifing bacteria in the tank.
