Dragon breath melting

I picked up some dragon breath macro a while ago to toss in my 10g tank that houses one of my smaller mantis shrimp. The tank has 2 10w 50/50 cfl's running for 8 hours a day in one of the cheapo hoods. Since I got it I've noticed it slowly start melting away. The mantis gets krill or mysis every other day so I know the tank has nutrients and light. Anyone know why macro just seems to melt away? Kinda frustrating I can keep an sps tank running fine but tossing in macro in a side tank it just melts.

Measure your nitrate and phosphate, you can't assume there's enough nutrients. That is pretty low light, but that doesn't usually kill halymenia only slow or stop its growth. What temp does the tank run at?

Sorry to hear this, I have high light and crazy flow in my 40 breeder and it grows like a weed. Is it possible to upgrade the lighting or put a powerhead in with the shrimp? Id put it in with the sps till then.

The tank sits at 78 degrees. There is a powerhead in the 10g, I've got an AC50 running and a nano hydor powerhead. I'm guessing there are plenty of nutrients just based on the fact the tank has a lot of other algae growth since it really doesn't have a long term cleanup crew. I'll try moving it to the 28g tank with one of my other mantis and see how it does. The nanocube has a 150w halide and a 1200gph powerhead and mj1200 returns so should be plenty and it gets a cube of mysis every other day for the mantis and his buddy peppermint shrimp.

The nuances algae could be sucking up all the nutrients.

I moved it to the nanocube a while ago that is running with a 10k 150w halide and a 1600gph powerhead and mj1200 return pumps. It seems to have stopped melting but doesn't seem to grow while hair algae grows uncontrollably. Any other ideas?
