Yes, they require a sandy substrate. Very cool fish that walks around very slowly. I have seen them in the wild but never in aquaria.

careful they may be fussy eaters, that looks like a mouth for specialist feeding

Matt don't say that, his fins look like the ears on your avatar!
Very true - and those are my real ears. I have changed my mind, its a very handsome fish.

Very cool fish, IMO. I would guess they'd require about the same needs as sharks and rays.
absolubt nonsense, why do people post stuff like this?

If you aren't aware, adtravels, sharks/rays require a soft, sandy substrate and (some species like Bamboos and Epaulettes) will crawl around on their pectoral fins, just like this Sea Moth. That's what I was referring to, bud.

ok, but there are an awful lot of sharks and rays that dont crawl around on their pectoral fins picking at invertabrates in the sand, I would say their needs are much more akin to that of the dragonets and mandarins, but what do I know:rolleyes:

Apparently you have no experience with benthic sharks and rays or else you'd know exactly what I was talking about. So I'll leave it at that.

Very cool fish, nonetheless.
