drain pipe sizes for 260 gallon tank

can i get away with 1" pvc drains on a 260 gallon my sump room is equiped with 1" drains so i don't really want to pull it all out. if i have to add another 1" drain and have 2 full syphons and one emergency i can do that to. so one would be wide open and one would be tweaked.

i don't really care... i can add another pipe to the room as long as i have 1 return pump and one 1" drain lines.

Find out the capacity of a 1" pipe in gallons per minute or hour. Then determine your return pump's rate of flow in gallons per minute or hour.

Well, if you understand the way to solve the question then the method to do so would be:

1). Go to Mr. Google. Mr. Google is our friend.

2). Type: capacity 1" pvc pipe gallons per hour

3). Get answer pages. Oh, here's one right at the top!

4). So now we know at worst we can get 960 gph through a 1" pipe. What is the rate of your return pump? Compare and determine if you need a second 1" drain pipe.

Personally, if I can put a second drain pipe in I would, just in case the first gets jammed up with a snail or whatever, or if I wanted to remove and clean one drain pipe I could do so without affecting the tank's regular operation.

Why do since people say 1200gph others say 1600gph, guy at brs said 800, your saying 960. So which one is it?

Is it possible to do a Herbie drain with 2 full syphons, one emergency? Or should I do a beach animal with 2 bull syphons one durso and one emergency?
