Drain plumbing questions - converting a Marineland dual corner overflow to a Herbie

This is what I pretty much decided to do. A regular herbie setup in one of the overflows. Then another siphon and my return in the other overflow. About the only difference I'm considering, is taking the two full siphons through the bulkheads with one inch pipe and then bringing them into a Y to a inch and a half pipe that leads down to the sump in the basement. I'd put just a single gate valve on the inch and a half line. My thinking being that with both siphons going through a single valve, they'd be a little easier to tune in.

My primary focus now is just finding a way to camouflage those overflows so they blend in a little better with the aquascape.

I opted for a siphon pipe and one emergency overflow pipe in one overflow, and then another siphon pipe and one return in the other.

You can make those overflow boxes work if you try hard enough.

Thin black acrylic. Reeferhead and smoothdog have done it.

Hopefully that will be the case if I don't figure out a way to cover them!

it is my understanding that nick (reeferhead) removed the sliding overflow piece,
then heated the acryllic up and placed it over the overflow piece to mold it with the curve.
