Don't worry about it. For one, its a fuge so it probably have much, if any UV, and secondly, it requires a pretty intense amount of time over several years in an aquarium to really be a problem. That same material is what most people use outside and don't see much for damage for the first few years, and mother nature is hopefully more brutal on it than you are planning on being.

sch.40 will fade in color in just a couple months when exposed to sunlight. I have no idea if salt water would have any effect on it or not. as far as the couplings go, I thought you were refering to threaded couplings with maybe a male adapter on it. but, yes the couplings are threaded to make it water tight. when you clean it and put glue on it usually it will slip right in there like the hot dog in the bun.

What size hole saws would I need to run 3/4 fittings and 1 inch returns?

Should be 11/8 for 3/4 and I believe 13/8 for 1"
