Drilling a 125

All holes will be in the back. Are overflows best high or low? Also what about placement of holes for a closed loop and returns? I have hole saws for 1" or 1 1/2" bulkheads.
Ideas or success stories welcomed...

I think you'll find lots of debate as to where to put the holes. i made the holes in my 75 about 1/3 up from the bottom and I built an overflow box out of glass.

some suggest a horizontaly overflow box across the entire back.

You might want to reconsider CL's, there was a buzz about then a year ago or so, but them you have to worry about, extra holes, plumbing, leaks, hot pumps.

Tunzes, Vortechs, waveboxes are expensive upfront, but the maintenance/cost is usually less from then on.

Anyways, usually bigger holes are better for flow. the upper third is optimal, incase you have a blowout, you will not loose all the water in your tank.

As far as Overflow holes, it is just your preference on how you want to design the boxes.
