Drilling Glass

Has anyone used their new drill bits yet? If so, how did it go...and more importantly...want to drill my tank? :)
 
Well we could have drilled yours for the tank drilling demo at the meeting but since you wont be here I guess thats out :)
 
I haven't yet... watched the guy at the swap and have used my dremel though. It's not that difficult, just gotta be patient. Do you have the hole saw?
 
I've looked at that thread before, personally I think after observing, you're better off with a plywood guide for the hole saw to start with and using a dribble of running water for lubricant. The holes I saw cut used low speed (probably less than 100rpm). I think a higher speed sould work better as the guy in the thread uses. I think my biggest concern would be the risk of having the hole saw bind and chip the glass, keeping the saw at 90 degrees to the face of the glass would be important to prevent that. I get a little free time and determine for sure the bottom isn't tempered I'm gonna practice on my 90...
