Drilling Holes in Aquarium ?

Due to my recent loss, I am thinking of utilizing the time to do some upgrades on the tank.

One thing I always wanted to do was drill a hole in the side of the tank for an overflow. I have a 20 year old Oceanic tank that has been absolutely great. I wand to drill an overflow, but was wondering if others have ever done this with any modicum of success ?? Please sound off & let me know if this is but another of my crazy DIY pipe dreams ???

The larger the tank, the thicker the glass, and the better success there is. Using a drill press is always your best bet. I have only witnessed 1 tank exploded. It was a plain 55 gallon.

The 215 Gallon Oceanic and 75 Gallon Oceanic I have were both drilled without any problems.

Again, I have only been involved when a drill press was used.

I know MS will drill a tank.
