Dry Spirulina algae for your reef tank?

My dad got some dry Spirulina algae that are in capsules for human consumption. It is in powdery form in the capsule. I was wondering, can I open the capsule, throw it in a cup with some tank water, mix it a bit and let it soak up and dose it into the tank for corals/clams/inverts? I know they sell Spirulina as fish food at the LFS, but, I was just wondering if anyone has used Spirulina algae that are in capsules for human consumption.

I'd pass on that. It's not that it wouldn't work to some degree, it's just there are way too many other prepared foods on the market to start guessing.

Yeah, but this is FREE.

I don't think it wil hurt much so it is worth a shot.

I wouldn't add it. I doubt it would do much other then pollute the water.

You could mix into a self made frozen food flat.
