DSB & BB system

What do you thing about DSB & BB system? which system better for long time.

There was an excellent thread (Poll) on this topic about a year ago on RC.... You may try a search to find the thread....

I would recomend DSB for refugium only.... YOu can always replace a refugium if the DSB becomes a problem.... As far as sand in your display tank.... Ideally no sand will allow you to clean out Detritus and prolong the life of your tank.... However, if you like the look of sand I see no harm in having an inch of sand on bottom of your tank.... All tanks crash eventually.....

The million dollar question with as many answers. I like DSB's, I like the way they look, I like the way they function, there is extra maintenance involved like keeping the sand bed alive. However if my tank was to be SPS dominated I would go with BB due to the extra flow that would be required to make them happy.

I run a BB tank with a dsb refugium for above mentioned reasons. I like a lot of flow and my sand would kick up wuite a bit until I went bb. Read the tjread in this forum on dsb in a bucket. Next tiem I need to chage out my refugium I'll go that way.
