DSB height

I have a 55 gallon tank that i have, I want to do a DSB but i want a shallow lagoon. Is it possible to have like half the tank as a DSB. It will be connected to another 55 gallon and a 30 gallon reef

I really don't see why not. The more anaerobic bacteria in there the better. You could do a nice deep plenum w/ that much room to spare. I think it would be a cool experiment if nothing else.
