DSB x Vodka

Hi guys
What's the risk having a DSB and using the vodka method ??? I have a 125g, I used the vodka method (10 ml/day) and now after six months I'm having a boom of filamentous algae. And my DSB becomes very dirty. Why ??

I nearly sure that i read here somewhere that Vodka should be used with BB tanks!! And not DSB tanks.

Because your tank is PO4 limited. Best to run GFO when dosing vodka. Vodka can be used with a DSB.

What is GFO? Don't see it on the RC acronym list.

Could you explain the PO4 limitation. The bacterias need PO4 to grow so more vodka is a waste ? I don't know what is GFO too.

Oh -- Looked it up myself. GFO = granular ferric oxide, a phosphate binder. E.g., PhosBan.

If PO4 is a limitation, so using GFO seems no logic. Someone can explain ?
