DSPS tank from Thailand (1000 gallon+)

Chingchai,

When you did the scaping, how long were the rocks out of water?.
I think they were already matured, so just wondering about any die off, or if there was any cycle when you got them wet.
I've heard you can probably keep matured rocks out of water for up to 6 hours or more without significant die off?....

I think your water was brought in by tanker?....was it seawater or made up water?.

Thanks
Mo

And the search for perfection never ends.....just passing by to say hi....yes.....we´re all still here seated at our computers starred and watching the flow...

I just found the miracle mud video with your tank from 08. Do you recomend this and will it be on this tank? On a side note that tank was pretty awsome as well!

Ching:

I'm not see your tank with fish yet. Can u post it some when u have time??

The white rim looks awesome, u run a risk performing the measurement and design on ur already set up tank.

Guy u still motivated a lot of person here in the shinning star of the caribbean : Puerto Rico

New Camera

New Camera

Ching, you mentioned a new camera.......was it the Canon 5D II by any chance?

Which lens will you prefer to use for your tank photography?

Peter:idea:

Ching,

I just wanted to say... well words can't really begin to say how impressed I am with everything you've done with your "vision" of a tank. It is without a doubt the most impressive work I've ever seen done with any tank anywhere.

I only wish I might be in Thailand sometime and get to see it in person but seeing it here is good enough for me for now!

Thank you for putting together something so beautiful and then sharing it with all of us here!!!

Dave

Ching,

Wow is what coming to mind when looking at ur build. Congrats on a beautiful tank. Were are you getting your corals from, i love them and want some! LOL
Thanks,

Eddie

Coolibabes. Thanks.

I did move all the fishes from my old tank last Thursday.
Here are the list of them:

Achiles Tang x 1
Gem Tang x 1
Black Tang x 1
Mystery Wrasse x 1
Interuptus Angel x 1
Resplendent Angel x 1
Snowflake Clownfish x 2
Percula Clownfish x 2
Platinum Clownfish x 1
Sunburst Anthias x 1
Ventralis Anthias x 1
Bartllet Anthias x 3
Japanese Anthias x 1
Garibaldi damsel x 1
Candy Basslet x 1

I am planning to put more of these:
Ventralis Anthias
Yellowtank hybrid (just like the one in David Saxby's tank)
Peppermint Wrasse
and some rare fishes

Excellent, I hope it was a smooth transition! Any pics of the fish in their new environment?

Chingchai,

Lovely white rim cover, but the tank looked really nice with the open top too, becasue the acrylic is so clear. Also, the white rim blocks the view with the webcam. Have you thought about leaving it without the white rim?.... it does look nice with the rim as well though.

How do your Gem tang and Black Tang get on?.... How big are they?. I've got a 3" Gem tang and worried that black tangs are relatively placid as far as tangs go. I want to put a black tang in my new tank.. just wondering what size to go for. I managed to get a Tricolor tang as well. I don't want to risk the Achille's tang though!.

Here's my tank. Not wet yet!.

My tricolor is on this page. Took me ages to get it...

Thanks for your build thread, it gave me so many ideas when planning my system....

Mo

White rim looks much better in person.
My Gem and Black Tang are getting on very well.
They both have almost the same size. (3 inch or so)

Thanks for the link of your tank. It sure will be very nice.
Yes, I am looking for Tricolor Tang as well.
LFS owner told me it should be coming this week. Cross my finger.

Well, where to start?

I have not posted in your thread, but I have read it entirely and shared it with most of my friends and family.

The reason I posted today is because I was out with my girlfriend last night and went into a fine wine shop. As soon as we entered I thought Ching Chai. :)

We had just eaten and had desert,,,, they had some nice Canadian "Ice-Wines" that are wonderful after dessert. :)

Sorry to derail......

As you know, your system, attention to detail and knowledge are all top-notch. :)

Michael. Thank you for your kind words.

Chingchai,

Any problems with your Red Dragon's.
I've heard some stories about recent problems with Red Dragon's. I have 2x 240W ones and just ordered a third to run the equipment. I got a bit worried when I heard the stories. I haven't run mine yet. Have you heard of any problems?... You've got the monster 50000l/h one?. Do you have a spare pump in case of failure?. Maybe a smaller model to temporarily run the system if the big one fails?, although I'm sure you already have a solution!! ....

Thanks
Mo

Yes, I did hear some problems of RD.
So far mine is running smoothly.
I don't have any spare pump yet.

Did you have the white rim cover on your drawing? Looks good but it look better without it.

There is no white rim on the drawing.
It is just what I decide to add later.

I know that some people will love the open top but I prefer this look.

The white rim looks great really keeps the attention on the tank! I like how the light from the tank makes the room look as well, again just a fantastic setup!

Good luck, I hope it's a beauty!, just like your tank :love2:
