DT's 60 Gallon Cube Stocking

Hey everyone! Anyone that has followed my build thread knows my tank is cycled now. I have been thinking stocking plans for a long time, and I need to get a little more serious about it now that my tank is ready to go.
I currently have a clownfish in there. He came from my 12, and is not a permanent resident. I also picked up a Yellow Watchman Goby, who is in QT.

Here is what I am thinking, and in order of addition:

Yellow watchman goby & pistol shrimp
Royal gramma
Anthia or Wrasse
Tang (yellow, yellow eye kole, or tomini)
Dwarf angel (flame, bi-color, potters, beauty)

I'd appreciate any input from anybody. If I do go with that list, would there be any room for a clown or clown pair? A second blenny/goby maybe?

Tank is a mixed reef. Let me know what you guys think. If you have any suggestions or other options for me I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

I had a yellow kole eye tang in my 60 cube and he didn't do well. Ended up losing him.

But my wrasses loved it. Flashers and fairies.

I am in the exact same boat. I have a 60 cube with an oc clown. I just get a melanurus wrssse from my buddy. I'm going to add a copper band butterfly and lemon peel butterfly.

From what I can tell you best bet if you want a tang is a yellow or sail fin but they will most likely likely be stressed and unhappy. Check out some of the reef questionable butterflies for a larger colorful fish. They will be better suited.

I would steer clear of any tangs or butterflys. Cubes are not ideal let alone 60 gallons for either.

Why not get a trio of anthias (if you can keep up with the feeding). Wrasse are always great to watch. A midas blenny would add some character. Dwarf angel would be cool just be wary some nip at corals.

Thanks C. I knew my cube might be a little restrictive, compared to even a longer tank of the same volume. FWIW I do have somewhat of a minimalist scape with space for swimming.

Ya, if I were to get another blenny/goby I'd be looking at a Midas, starry, or bicolor! They sound fun to watch.

Anthias might well be the direction I go. I know they are a good option for my tank. A trio is usually the best option? Is there a male to female ratio to maintain?

Trio is probably best to make it worth it but even then, the tank is so small that they fish won't appear to congregate together.

My fish list in my 60 cube was:
two clowns
two bengaii cardinals
one red headed fairy wrasse
one lubbock wrasse
one fire fish
one lawnmower blenny


This had enough motion and static fish at the same time.

I would love to have that one big colorful fish in my stocking. The crown jewel of the tank you know? And a supporting cast of interesting/colorful fish to compliment.

Stay away from the Copperband butterfly, they need a 125 gallon tank(http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+25+212&pcatid=212). They grow to 8" and require a very mature tank with a large supply of food to be healthy.

How are the other butterflies for requirements?

A 24x24 is hard to have a large fish in because it won't have the leg room it needs. What you may want to consider might be a Midas blenny as mentioned before. Mine is always swimming in the open. It looks like a big yellow ribbon in the water. Very cool fish. Perhaps replace the lawnmower with that fish.

Also, go on liveaquaria.com and take a look at photos. you'd be surprised the number of youtube videos people have of individual fish.

I just watched some videos of the Midas. Cool fish! I had only seen pictures before. Sounds like they get a decent size too. I wanted one nice yellow fish, I think this may be him!

Lemon butterfly fish. they eat plankton and are typically reef safe.

With all these fish in mind, at what point would a pair of clownfish best be introduced? The final fish to go in?
After the Gobies/blennies?
Before or after anthias or wrasses?

My experience with a single clown so far hasn't been great. He is territorial and nips any others he's housed with
