Dual Quarantine?

Water change is often not the issue.

Your biological filter medium in QT MUST have experienced enough ammonia and processed it, and have done so recently before QT starts.

Not just robbing from DT only. IT is ok to rob some seed from DT, but robust cycling of the QT medium using pulses of ammonia is necessary in general.

But since in your case it is only two small fish, you might have been lucky that a less robust cycling might serve you well.

I don't like chances and I always urge you to cycle the medium for QT robustly and deliberately in advance using pulses of ammonia.

True true, I will buffer my media by robbing some from my 120's sump.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but from what I'm reading, two dwarf angels in QT should be fine. This is how I've always done it. They were already in the same tank at the LFS, they are going into a good size QT tank, and neither one has established territories. I think they will be fine. Good idea, though to have 3 or 4 separate pieces of PVC for hiding.

I said so too.

But I think the OP wants some general discussion.

What if next time the fish are two five inch angels?

Good to understand the general idea.

Thats what im hoping - just added 2 90 degree elbows and a straight coupling.

Quick update: After acclimating for temp and introducing to the QT tank, both fish almost seemed to have buddied up and are swimming freely without hiding or demonstrating territorial behaviour.

This of course is just within the first 20 mins but it is a good start to the full QT timeline.

Even with just two pigmy angels, the medium in a QT still has to be cycled.

Just that the cycle does not have to be as robust as with two 5-inch fish.

You can still have ammonia if you had not deliberately cycled it to any extent.
