dual vs single ballast?

would like to know the pro's and con's of using either single or dual ballast?

Are you talking about metal halide? I have run both and think that people buy the dual to save space or money. I am running a dual MH ballast now. Usually you can't turn each individual light on or off on a dual ballast though...they come on at the same time. I also have a dual ballast for my PCs. I guess if the dual ballast breaks or one side goes out then both of your lights are down until you fix it. Hope this helps.

I have one single and one dual. I would say the pro is usually duals are a little bit cheaper than 2 singles. I would say for something going bad, singles would be better.

most of your name brand dual come with dual switchs and plugs. just less metal the manufature has to use to produce and thats where the savings comes in. but would recommend electronic ballast. if you price pfo vs icecap the ballast are the same price. run alot cooler, weight alot less for shipping and you can mount them into your canopy.
