OK...everything is going really well for me at the moment but I have several questions. I know I had about 5 right off the bat, but I already forgot most of them. I'm sure I'll remember as soon as I walk away.
1. Why don't people use glass heaters much anymore? We had about 10 new ones that sat in a wet shed at school for the last 5 years. 2 of them broke in the tanks somehow -- it was scary.
2. Remember when I told you I didn't know anything about making tanks and then I built about 600 gallons of tanks...WELL...among the many errors, the biggest is this (ok yes, I'm embarrassed to even tell you). The outflow from top tanks to the second row...well...take my fish on a rollercoaster ride ( I seriously think my clowns like it). That's not a big deal. But the other outflow goes to the sump and pump and will kill anything and jam it up if they go down there, so most of those tanks are just planted tanks or house my lobsters and crabs. What is the best way to fix this? I can take out some water and unscrew the bulkhead if needed. I did put a screen on one to test it, but it was the one tank with major hair algae problem that I had scrubbed, and the algae blocked water from flowing out and almost flooded. (hope that made sense)
3. I have about 6 types of macro algae starting to grow like crazy. There are giant sheets of red sea lettuce and red grapes etc. My tang loves to eat the lettuce. I have a food concoction(spelling?) that I'd like to add this too. Can I just add it and freeze it? or do I need to dry it first?
4. I have a bunch of oce's. I want to get a couple of anemones for them (these are separate tanks). The pet store down the road has 4 giant saddleback anemones, a purple sebae, and a couple of long tentacle anemones. Which ones will be most compatible. I like the saddlebacks the best but they are twice as much money so I want to be sure before I get them. Also, which ones are most likely to split/divide?
5. Anyone here have good experience breeding peppermint shrimp, or growing phytoplankton and rotifers? My seniors are starting to this, and I need someone with knowledge for them to be able to ask questions.
OK Thanks!
Laine
