Dumb Brit with Wavebox question!!

Roger,

currently looking at a wavebox for my set up,

Have a 5ft X 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 glass hole in the wall.

I have two 40mm drilled overflows, one in each end of the tank, my questions are:

Can the unit be effectively disguised ie within the rockwork providing the outlet is clear.

My tank is fairly rock laden, will this impact performance?

I have heard reports that it can be used stand alone or is further flow required? If so would the sump return be enough and would this cause random flow depending on the 'crest of the wave'.

Would the postioning of my overflows cause any probelms
(other than noise which shouldn't be a major problem as its a hole in the wall.), If so I can swap the sump return hole into an overflow and return the sump through one of the existing overflows instead, can you envisage any problems with this?

Sorry for all the q's and I have no idea what time it is over there!!

Regards

It can be disguised, the ideal way is to make a rock rack with PVC so their is a pocket that permits removal for maintanence and it is not so dense as to obstruct flow. The rock will alter timing but probably not have any negative impact.

The wavebox flow is a rocking flow, the water just moves back and forth, the effect is debris is lifted and suspended but a directional current should be used for good filtration and removal of debris. I would use another flow source with it, a stream, closed loop, sea swirls.

Roger,

thanks for the input, with regards to the addtional flow (looking at ocean motions closed loop) would this interupt the frequecny of the wave?

Cheers
