dumb Chromis question

now i know they school together but would different Chromis school together or is that something that only happens with that same type Chromis?

i started off with 12... they were the cycle starters... i bought 12 because i wanted to end up with 5 or 6... i know through research and experience that 52% of the fish you buy from a local fish store are already dead when you buy them... think im crazy? think back... write down all the fish you remember buying... now write down how many of them died... obviously rule out the ones that died because of your own fault... do the math... 48% lived... ok... thats a bit off subject... typically chromis will live together for a long time... they dont really kill each other off... they just play rough... of course only the strong will survive... i have roughly 48% of the chromis i purchased in the begining... (by design) they are all different sizes... they will live together for a very long time as a school... assuming I dont do anything stupid... i have the right qty for my system... and they are all very healthy... if you want a school of fish... you should get them all at once... its when you add new members to the gang that they tend to get nasty... and then of course... only 48% of the new guys will make it anyway... ok... nuff of my ticked off soapbox about how pathetic our beloved hobby can be when it comes to collecting fish (and other things).

I know it started off as like 10 or more and they all died. then anouth batch and you saw what he had left.

the second batch of chromis were not for my show... they were feeders for the frogfish i had in the back tanks... they never made it (he says with a gentle tear rolling down his cheek... with the muted sound of "taps" playing solomely in the background):hmm2:

Like it was mentioned above, you must add them at the sametime if you want them to school. I had two and added two more and the original two pick the heck out of them eventually they did not survive.

Our three blue/green chromis did well until we tried those "AlGone" pouches to lower our Nitrates. The chromis seemed to be affected by whatever is in there, so we removed the pouch, but whatever it did to the Chromis was long term. They never recovered, although they continued to eat well and never showed any external issues (no loss of color or raged fins or anything). They died one by one.

We are thinking of getting red cardinals, which are also schooling fish like the Chromis, and are a little smaller.

Red Stop Light Cardinal

i think i'll skip on the chromis then....seems like a waste of money lol no offence to all who have them though...i do think they are kinda cool and pretty
