Dumb Q - is this a problem?

The other day I did my quarterly cleaning on my pair of 6100's. On one of them I noticed that the ring in the motor block was a bit "chewed" - it wasn't smooth. It was on the 2nd one so I didn't notice/pay attention to the other unit. Impellers & drive unit were pretty clean, bit of build up but not much (& only on the very bottom)

Is this going to be an issue?

They been running well over a year & cleaned every 3 months or so. Never run on a stop cycle & there's no sand in the tank. Never had an alarm or any other type of issue - like the enegizer bunny they just keep going & going :)

It probably isn't ideal, do you mean the red oring or the track piece (upper bearing). These parts are cheap enough but I don't think it is urgent to change them, but I would get a replacement when possible.

Sorry for the poor desciption - it's the ring (black) that's on the inside of the motor housing. If you hold the motor in your hand & look at the hole it's the back ring right at the surface. Impeller is fine, not a mark on either of them.

That piece does tend to have a polygon surface, it isn't a perfect cylinder. If it is jagged or frayed I would change it but it has such a surface for the brakes to engage on.

Aaaaaaaaah, thanks so much for the info, never paid it any attention before.

(now I feel like a complete goob  but I've been there before)
