Dumb question of the day

So word has it that mantis eat just about anything... or so I've found out.

As such the only thing I've found that will eat algea is a massive turbo snail that is too big for my 4" friend. Is there ANYTHING that can get in smaller places and eat algae and not be killed or any chemicals anyone has actually had luck with that can be used where corals exist?

My astrea snails are a big help in algae control, and their shells seem to be too thick for my little 3" platysoma...at least, I haven't seen one with a hole in the shell yet.

I think the best solution is to just dump in a bunch of snails and then keep feeding your mantis as regular. It will probably take him a while to eat all of the snails and keeping him full will help make them last longer, and while they aren't eaten they will clean your tank.

or you can dump a bunch of those bumble bee snails i got some in a tank with some hermits and some with my mantis and nothing seems to bother them or try to eat em the ones i have are like the size of a green pea

You can get a sponge that will help out a little bit! I had one in my tank when I had cyano, and some hair, and was getting my fuge established, and it worked great! I can say, that my fuge has definately helped out with algea a ton!! I have a 6" peacock, and I can keep NOTHING in the tank except for bumblee snails! Astreas are gone in 2 hits, Turbos are gone in a matter of three seconds, and hermits... destroyed! If you can set up a fuge with some cheato, do that!! Working wonders for me!

well i have eithier a pistol or mantis . I havent seen but lots of shells and pieces of crab all around den . My diamond whatchman goby keeps it clean for him and doesnt seem bothered at all. But it perfers crabs.

Sad to say my tank was never cleaner than when I had Red Flat Worms in there. Another thing to think about would be mini brittle stars or those little 6 arm stars.
