Dumb question

Is Gigantea pronounced with a "Jahy" sounding beginning like saying "gigantic" or a "guy" sounding beginning like saying "Geiger counter". Dumb question but I can't seem to find the correct pronunciation listed anywhere

I say Gig and not Jig so I'm staying with Gig

all species names are either Latin or ancient Greek or latinized names so the pronounciation should follow Latin rules.
In this case it should be with a "G" as in Geiger.

That's what I was leaning towards. I usually say Gigantea that way followed by the "jahy-gantea"....and then quickly followed by "however you say it". Lol.

Same goes for "percula" which is pronounced per-ku-la and not per-q-la like you usually hear it in the US.

Funny cuz those I do call per-ku-la! I might actually be accidentally smart ! Lol
