Dumb question

Is Gigantea pronounced with a "Jahy" sounding beginning like saying "gigantic" or a "guy" sounding beginning like saying "Geiger counter". Dumb question but I can't seem to find the correct pronunciation listed anywhere :(

all species names are either Latin or ancient Greek or latinized names so the pronounciation should follow Latin rules.
In this case it should be with a "G" as in Geiger.

That's what I was leaning towards. I usually say Gigantea that way followed by the "jahy-gantea"....and then quickly followed by "however you say it". Lol.

Same goes for "percula" which is pronounced per-ku-la and not per-q-la like you usually hear it in the US.
