Dumb question

Hi guys I got a dumb one for you, I feel I should know the answer to this but here goes...

I got a yellow tang tonight and currently have him in a five gallon bucket with an air stone starting TTM. What I don't have is a heater, I plan to get one tomorrow if needed, the ambient temp is 73 I'm wondering if this temp would be ok during the 12 days of TTM or should I plan on going out tomorrow to get a couple of heaters?

TIA

i would! 5 gallon bucket can change temperature in matter of hour or even less. and specially if you have that bucket on a floor (which is colder by couple degrees then room temperature)

Heat that water for sure. Not only will a 5-gallon experience rapid temp shifts, but 73 degrees is cool enough to slow the life cycle of marine ich... you could end up delaying a hatch and pushing your entire quarantine process back.

You need the heater. The ish already going to stressed and not having properly heated water will just add to that.

The price of a heater is nothing compared to the price of losing fish. And you will always need a spare heater anyway.

Good luck.
