dummy question about powerheads !!!! ???

Do you really need to attach this air tubbing in any powerhead u set in the tank? if you do what is the best way to do this set up? should i always use the max power flow? how many would i put over a 55 gl and where at corners?? thanks. comments here , thanks.

you want to put them in places that allow the flowstointersect, or bounce off of glass. This gives the tank random currents. How many depends on what you will be keeping, and how much other flow you already have.
 
You use the air line if you are using the powerhead to run a skimmer, or you want a stream of bubbles. There are many applications that you can use the air line for... but not if you're using the powerhead for flow. If you were using the powerhead to mix salt water in a big drum, you could use the air for aeration.
 
Don't use the airline for flow use. It will create all kinds of bubbles, which its supposed to, which intern makes saltcreep. I would probably just leave it on the maximum flow rate. You are lookin for a turnover above 20x, imo. ;)
