Had this Duncan since August. Had 15 heads when I got it and you can see by the pic it is well over 40 now. Sunday I fed it PE Mysis shrimp along with my elegance I do this every Sunday. Well for the last three days it has not opened fully today it looks like this. Elegance is fine also. Have not added any fish coral anything in over a month. Lights are same no new bulbs, it has not been moved etc. Water parameters are

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Calcium 415
Phosphates a bit high but I am doing a water change tomoorow 0.11
Mag Alk etc all in line also.

Any opinions? I would hate to see it die but no clue what has happened. I do not personally see anything wrong with the tissue. Maybe someone else can see something in the picture I can not. Water temp is 77.8 degrees also. Sure hope it is ok kids really love it and it opens up huge

How high do you have it in the tank? I usually start mine on the bottom and gradually move them up. They can be very sensitive to strong lighting or too much flow.

He has been near the very bottom the whole.time. I'd.say medium flow. For.five.months no issue hence.my concern. My son says he barely opened today tentacles barely visible out.of.the holes

ive had duncan for a while they typically collect more food(organics from the water column than phyoto-size
mine will do the same thing when it hasn't been feed a piece of krill in a little while or hasn't caught brine that i feed

Have you been working on reducing phosphates lately? My Duncan reacted the worse when my phosphates dropped quickly but they recovered once the phosphates stabilized again at a lowered level.

PH is 8.2 Alk was fine but I forget the number off hand. No I have not been working on phosphates either. Like I said everythinh has been fine so I am at a lot. Maybe today I will try and spray him with some oyster feast or cyclopeze. Not sure if he will get any with all his heads retracted but worth a try I guess.
