duncan question

HI, I have ducan that I've had for about a year. It's been growing well, it had about 4 heads when I got and now it has about 20. My question is do they bud?
I was watching it tonight and one of the larger heads just floated off. I've kept ducans for a while and never seen this happen.

I'm curious as well. I've never seen a duncan's head "floated off" except when the head is dying and disintegrating.
