duncan skin peeling off bottom?

I have a 27 head ducan coral that opens and thrives awesome but noticed while moving coral that the skin that is incrusting on the rock is peeling off and showing dead tissue, what could this be ??? please help this is my show peice ... Any imput will help.

I've always had trouble with duncans. Not sure why. Check your alkalinity first.

I've lost 2 separate duncan pieces, bother started off with the tissue peeling just like you're describing.
