I made a base out of rubble rock so it can stand on it's own.

Over the weekend I stopped at one of my lfs. Its a huge warehouse and they have multiple display tanks. I noticed they had a huge branching duncan in their huge main display so I asked him how he gets them to branch? he said "it's the branching kind." I told him I heard that it all depends on the flow the are in. We both terned to the tank and low and behold, the powerhead was aimed right at it.....med to strong flow.

he took me to another frag tank also with a high flow to show me a frag he cut from this colony and it was also growing in the branching manner.

Just wanted to post this here as a sort of update.

Wow sorry I haven't looked at this post in forever . I don't know if I stated before but when I got this frag it was branching so it may be flow, calcuim, and light. That's what I'm still thinking.

It may have to do with the different duncan types, but the only place I have ever seen a branching duncan was one that was in the wild. I think it may have to do with the awesome conditions mother nature provides..

Although I do remember seeing a couple in aquariums that started to grow out sideways, but this was after the colony had around 50+ polyps.
