Dust clouds

When playing around with my turkey baster, after feeding some various types of plankton, I found that if I blasted my rocks with water a good amount of what looked like detritus, brown dusty looking crap basically shooting out of many different holes. Just by pushing water onto a single rock I could fill my tank with dust. Does this mean my tanks circulation is not high enough? Does anyone else see this when the play with their LR?

Yes - and then ten minutes later the water is crystal clear and the rocks look great. I "blast" about every other day.

Good stuff to do, will help coraline grow by clearing the rock surface for new patches and even spreading small amounts around the tank, and it can give a free feeding to your filter feeders. It also lets any detrius go into the water column and be skimmed out.

I do it as much as I can. Makes your rocks look nice too :)

Lol, I did mean to mention my Gorgonian seemed to get excited any time I did it as well. I just wish I was blasting out copepods to, my population is extremely low. :-(
