Dusting off live rock..

What is the white flakey stuff that comes off my rock when I'm cleaning my tank? And is there an easier way to siphon off fish poop alone/and/or with less of my water? Sorry, may seem like silly questions.. My first salt tank and I'm hoping for some quick tips...Thx.!

if you are using a filter you can run a siphon hose to the intake and then clean your filter when your done....no water loss at all

you can siphon through a filter sock, then put the water back into your tank. That is if your are cleaning it often

estubbaly, how do you mean ? I use a hob filter. can i still do it with that?
