Dutch Royalty Reef

What salt are you using? I have never seen alkalinty that low in any salt. Are you sure your test kit isnt faulty?

What do you attribute to the alk being so low. In my experience Reef Crystals mixes up with a pretty high alk.

That is if my assumption that RC stands for Reef Crystals is correct.

Yes it is Reef Crystals salt...

That my alk is so low has to do that it is a fresh start up. New rock and sand etc etc. more with the hands in the water than normal.
I had most off the time with a new built the same thing. I don't even call it a problem.
I dose QFI alk and started with Reef Tonic 1&2. When I get more and more corals I will start up the calcium reactor again to keep the level stable together with dosing with extra magnesium strontium and amnovit. Extra dosing I use KZ supplements.

The dosing containers are JNS. The good thing about this containers are, that you can empty them completely and their is no hose going in the container.
The Bubble Magus is my spare unit. I am waiting for my GHL dozers 2x 4 heads who will come somewhere next month with the other equipment i ordered from GHL.

I thought it looked like carbon in there. I have never seen a design where the water overflows like that.
 
I had some issues with my temperature of my water!!! 29.8C As I am still waiting for my aqua medic water chiller, Titan 1500 I had to improvise something to get the temperature down. As old school I had to take some ventilators. One one the sump and one on the tank. This morning my water temperature was acceptable figure of 26.4C.

I hope the water chiller will be soon in the house to take al this ugly ventilators away again.
 
Today a new round of testing the water. It looks Ok. Magnesium is a little low. Water temperature will be better and stable when I get my chiller over a week or two.

why do you think your temp is running so high? I run a similar setup using T5 lighting and my heaters run quite a bit because my tank stays too cold. Do you keep your house warm? I keep my house around 21.1 C (i did the conversion to make your life easier :) ) Thankfully I have never even had to think about running a chiller
